Chapel Town U14 Girls 2-0 NMJFC U14 Girls
A well fought out game of football played out in good spirits between the 2 teams.
The first half was a very tight affair with very few chances for either team. New Mills were working hard and winning most second balls. They had a couple of half chances but Chapels defence did well. Chapel were restricted to long shots which Jodie did well to get behind them all. The 2nd half was a similar sort of game, very tight, our girls were creating more chances and were looking more threatening with Maddie, Scarlet and Kacey all going close. Kirsty also had a good chance and was unfortunate not to score. Chapel did get onto the score sheet when they put very good corner in which Jodie at full stretch was unfortunate to knock it into her own net (she had to go for it as there would have been a tap in if she didn't). Chapel were awarded a penalty for hand ball with our girl instinctively protecting her face. Jodie made a good save from the penalty and they converted the rebound. A good game, so many positives all around in particularly the defence with Libby, Maisie, Martha and Niamh forming good partnerships.
The Chapel Town coach felt we played the better match.
GOG was Maisie, superb in defence, she made some great tackles and was positional brilliant getting blocks in and cleared the ball well.
Keep it up Girls, you're doing well.
