Tameside Utd 4-1 NMJFC U14 Girls
A fantastic performance from the U14 girls today. They were up against a Tameside Utd who had won the league the previous 2 seasons. The first half had a pattern of attack vs defence and the New Mills defence were very strong preventing Tameside from having many chances. Tameside eventually broke through with some nice play on the wing and a nice finish into the bottom corner. Just before half time, Tameside made it 2 from the penalty spot (the girls felt aggrieved as she tripped over the ball). After Halftime New Mills had much more of the ball and despite still being strong at the back were able to play some nice football through midfield and start creating a few chances.
The girls managed to break from a Tameside corner and send Maddie through to lob the keeper to make it 2-1. The game continued to be tight and New Mills had a great chance to go level which they didn't quite take. Tameside took control of the game in the last 5 minutes and took the game away from the girls with 2 late goals. A superb defensive display from the whole team which they all can be so proud of.
GOG was a difficult choice with many very good performances but I went with Libby, super strong at the back and read the game very well to keep cutting the ball out and very good whilst tackling.
