New Mills u7s Yellows v Hayfield
Another game against our local rivals Hayfield. Having played Hayfield only a few weeks ago, the Yellows were keen to get going. This week we had a comfortable 7 players so everyone was going to get a good amount of game time.
The first half was very competitive with both teams having plenty of chances. Some great saves from Hayfield denying many of Ronan and Charlie's attempts on goal. Lots of good defending from the yellows made sure that Hayfield weren't able to close out any of their chances. Eventually Ronan found the back of the net with a great long range strike. Hayfield quickly responded with another great shot to even things out.
For the second half we made sure we talked about looking up and passing to our team mates. They listened so well and created so many opportunities really showing all the experience they have gained during training and playing matches.
Goals quickly came from Joshua and James. Dylan taking a turn in goal for the second half showed off his cat-like reflexes making an excellent dive save.
Leo took a great role as defender for the second half making so many great tackles and clearances.
A fantastic free kick from Ronan secured another goal. Meanwhile the yellows gained confidence in midfield and made sure they were quickly winning the ball back and closing down the opposition when they had the ball, creating lots of opportunities. A fantastic performance all round and a really exciting game!
Overall, the coaches are very proud of this team, they've come on so well over the past year. Playing really well together as a team as well as lots of strong individual performances.
