A bright, fresh morning in Glossopdale saw the Bees finally get to play against a Chinley team (4 times we've been set to play Chinley this season and 4 times the games have been called off for various reasons)
The Bees were almost at full strength, only Seren was unable to make it today. Leo returned from his short term loan with the Hornets (the 8.45am Kick off) so he was warmed up and ready to go.
The Bees kicked off with Alexander in goal, Joshua and Rocco playing in defence with Leo and Charlie upfront. Joshua and Rocco have really developed an understanding when playing together, if one moves upfield, the other knows to stay back. It's brilliant to see that kind of understanding within our group of players.
The first half was quite tense with neither team giving much away, tackles were flying in from both sides and it showed the teams were evenly matched.
The Bees were off and running and confidence was up. Chinley got into the game and played some good football.
The Bees stayed calm and remembered their passing game, Leo broke on the left hand side after some good work by Joshua and hit a shot.... it cannoned off the post and back into play.. such a good game to watch.
Toby came on and really got involved closing down the opposition. Stanley also came off the bench and made his mark with some good tackles and passing to his teammates.
Charlie kept tracking back and breaking down the Chinley attacks.
This was a really close, entertaining game.
Half time saw the Bees make the usual switch with Stanley taking on the gloves. For the first few minutes of the second half, Stanley 'safe hands' had little to do. The Bees were pressing with Charlie, Leo and Joshua all coming close to hitting the back of the net.
Another quick Bees attack ignited Chinley back into the game. Another bout of pressure from Chinley brought some more changes. Alexander came on in defence, Toby was battling upfront. From here on in there were quick subs along with players injured and needing a quick rest.
The Bees played valiantly and between them, they were talking to each other on the pitch and really developing a team spirit.
It was a great performance from everyone today.
POTM today went to Rocco for really giving 110% .. He played brilliantly, listened and remembered his instructions and never stopped trying.
