Match report NMJFC Under 8s Bees - 12/03/23

Match report NMJFC Under 8s Bees - 12/03/23

After training was cancelled midweek due to the adverse temperatures and all the snow we had on Friday, everyone was keeping a close eye on the weather..... however it turned out to be a surprisingly bright, warm Sunday morning.  As the Bees had the late kick off, we missed the chance to say Hi to our own Harry Budd who was there to cheer on the Hornets & the Wasps.... we'll see you next time Harry :)

The Bees were missing Seren and Alexander today, so a bit of shuffling was needed.  Joshua volunteered to go in goal in the first half and did a stellar job of keping the Whaley attack at bay.  Defence was the ever present Rocco and Toby, with a front 2 of Leo and Charlie.  Stanley was biding his time.... eager to get on the pitch.

The Bees started really brightly and were able to string plenty of passes together.  It was a really close game with the sides evenly matched.  After a great run from Charlie, he hit the net and opened the scoring for the Bees with a fine effort.  Rocco was as strong as ever at the back with some great interchanging play with Toby.  A quick sub in the first half saw Stanley go upfront and Charlie have a rest.  Out of nowhere the Bees had a throw in taken by our long throw expert Leo, over everyone's heads and picked up by Stanley...... a moments pause and then.... WHAM..... into the back of the net.  Everyone congratulated Stanley on his first of the season.

We switched things up in the the second half with Stanley going in goal and Joshua playing his usual position at the back.  There was much of the same play in the middle of the pitch with some great tackles by everyone.  Toby was really getting involved in some great midfield battles.  The Bees broke through and Leo slid home a great goal after just missing a few chances.

The ref blew the final whistle and all the coaches agreed it was a fantastic game of football to observe. Every one of the Bees played well, week on week they are raising their game which is great to see!  The player of the match could only go to Stanley for taking his goal so well and doing great in goal in the second half.
