Match report NMJFC Under 8s Bees - 30/10/22

vs Whaley bridge U8

This week the bees were playing another team we'd not encountered before.  We arrived early, got warmed up and were ready to go.

Looking round we could see the other matches had started.  A quick chat with the organisers revealed our opponents were running late due to a mixup.

Fortunately, we had 8 players today so a quick plan was formed, followed by some self organising from the kids and we had a mini 4vs4 game.  Joshua, Leo, Charlie and Rocco formed a team and quickly started moving up the pitch creating lots of opportunities.

However, lots of great defending from Seren, Alexander and Toby made it very difficult for them to find the goal.  Along with the super keeper, Stanley at the back keeping the ball out of the net.

Seren showed great determination in this little game with persistent tackles in midfield and lots of good runs up the pitch coming very close to scoring a goal.  Eventually the pressure from Leo, Charlie and Joshua paid off with each of them getting a goal.  The mini match only lasted 15 minutes and our opponents arrived.  They only had 3 to start with so Joshua and Leo happily jumped to the other team to make up the numbers and we had a game.

Stanley volunteered to go in goal and did a great job here, really showing some experience to pick up the ball and clear it if it comes near the area.  Seren showed such confidence in our warm up game that she went straight on as striker causing lots of problems up front for our opponents.  Joshua was happy again to play in defence knowing the importance of this role and performed brilliantly intercepting any long balls that came through.  Also showing his experience tracking back to cut off any attacks. Halfway through the match Whaley bridge finally had 5 players so we got Leo back.  His quick running quickly came in handy creating lots of opportunities both for himself and feeding the ball to Charlie.  This quickly came in useful with Charlie finding the back of the net with a great run up the pitch.  Rocco and Toby both showed some great persistence making tackles and running up the field, whilst also being aware they need to run back and support the defence when their opponents started attacking.

Alexander showed he is gaining experience on Sunday matches and really improving, making lots of great tackles and passes up the field.  Due to the late start we only had time for the one half against Whaley bridge.  It was a bit of a chaotic morning but all in all the kids had a great time and played lots of football.  The Bees did brilliant against this team and really do keep on improving each week.

Player of the match this week went to Seren.  At the end of the match there was no doubt amongst the coach or the players who should win the player of the match this week.  Seren showed such great determination and confidence when playing both in our mini game and in the main match.  Lots of great tackling and runs with the ball.  Well done Seren. 👏🏻👏🏻
