Match Report - NMJU9 FALCONS - Sunday 4th December
A cold, grey and drizzly morning at Glossopdale as the Falcons lined up against Glossop NE U9 Reds.
We knew this was going to be a physical game where the opposition would give you no time on the ball and go in for every tackle and loose ball.
The Falcons were ready and the game started at a good pace. Both teams trying to stamp their authority on the game but cancelling each other out with some tough tackling and breaking up play. Clear cut chances were few and far between although the Falcons managed to force a few good saves from the Glossop goalkeeper and also hitting the crossbar.
A re-group at half-time and the ask was more of the same - keep the energy levels up, win those second balls and try and use the space down both wings.
The second half was another tough battle, but every Falcon stood up to the challenge and fought right until the final whistle.
No goals today, but plenty of positives to take away and lessons learned when decisions don’t go our way.
Special mention to todays captain Alfie, who was also our player of the match. Alfie was everywhere today - coming short to support our defenders, winning those midfield battles and using his pace and skills to make driving runs into attack. He had to keep his discipline today when some big tackles were going in and led by example for the team. Well done Alfie, you totally deserved the trophy today.
Huge well done to the Falcons today - a great example of togetherness and team spirit that keeps getting better and better.
Roll on next week!
