Match Report - U11 Yellows - Sunday 15th September

It was the second game of the season and the Yellows were handed another hard fixture against Hayfield U11’s.

The Yellows knew that Hayfield like to get on the front foot straight away and play with a high level of energy, so everyone had to be switched on from the first whistle!

Although no Rowan (get well soon!) and Angus for the Yellows, Lucas was back for his first game of the season and Leo was making his debut for the team.

As the game kicked off, both teams wasted no time at all! It was end to end right from the start with both teams creating excellent chances, but both defences and goalkeepers were in fine form. The rain was playing its part in a frenetic game that you couldn’t take your eyes off! Oscar and Riley working their socks up front, supported by Sami and Robbie, who was our captain for the day.

Half-time came and the Yellows were buzzing with their performance - and rightly so, they were immense! Zac was having an amazing in goal, with Jack, Lucas and Henry providing a rock solid defence in front of him.

As we went into the second half, the Yellows had to do exactly the same again, dig deep and work hard together as a team.

It was another even half where everyone was giving their all.

Nathan and Leo were fantastic in midfield, with Leo hitting the crossbar from a free kick. What a debut goal that would have been!

The Yellows are still getting used to the longer game time and with only 5 minutes left to go, they just ran out of steam after a monumental effort. Almost the complete performance!

Special mention to Jack who won our player of the match trophy today. Only his second game for the team and not only was his defending and teamwork outstanding today, we witnessed a goal of the season contender from him too! Twenty five yards out, left footed half volley flew past everyone into the top corner. Unbelievable scenes when that hit the back of the net!

The coaches were super proud of them all today. Our goal this season is to improve every week. Today was another step on that journey.

Well done Yellows - roll on next week!
