If ever there was a game that made us really proud, today was it. They were all connected as a team and dominated as one.
Our new player Lily went out for her first game with us today.
Players stepped into different positions and played with 100% effort and commitment which shows versatility.
With a player away this week, Ruby was tasked as right back and went fully in, pressed high, anticipated the opposition’s pass, and got in front of the player to intercept & keep the ball out of our half, chasing down players forcing them to make mistakes and took on board the coaching tips – absolutely brilliant today Ruby, well done!
Annie-Mae’s confidence to stay on the ball throughout the midfield was an absolute masterclass of keeping possession, travelled across the pitch holding players at bay with the ball at her feet to find the options of her waiting teammates, calm & creative.
Movement off the ball, top class all round. A great partnership between Neve and Lily D as centre backs, Lily covering superbly, claiming spectacular throw ins too.
Taylor sharp in net with excellent reactions and good decisions on goal kicks again, going long & playing out from the back.
Izzy marked her player well from left and sent line hugging balls for Alissa to pick up and beat her marker on the attack.
Mia backing up Annie defensively denying the Richmond attackers a way through down the middle, well done Mia.
Our opening goal came from our number 7 Nieve who not only supported new players but also played CDM perfectly in the second half, great reactions & the assist coming from Isabella in front of net, and couple of minutes later, Alissa shot from the right for it to skim across the goal line and poked across the line from Isla who always follows up crosses into the box.
The half time whistle was blown and honestly, not a lot to discuss, the girls knew they were playing well, was just a matter of keeping the energy.
We also had Florence join us today for a bit of experience and again, great in her tackles up front and worked hard, well done.
Second half, 2 minutes in and Lily H pushed through the Richmond defenders to get herself on the scoreboard which obviously gave her a taste of the action as she clocked up another 4 minutes later. 2 goals on your debut – fantastic!
These were some of the highlights of our game today but the hard work & teamwork from all of the team did not go unnoticed, all well-oiled cogs in a big wheel!
Great attitudes and competitive throughout from all but our POTM went to Lily D for perseverance and bagging 2 goals on her first game.
