Match report, 04/12/22, New Mills Bee's U8 vs Chapel town U8 yellows

Match report, 04/12/22, New Mills Bee's U8 vs Chapel town U8 yellows

This week the Bee's were playing Chapel town Yellows.  Fortunately we had the late start today after lots of the under 8 team were out celebrating New Mills xmas light switch on the night before.

It was the first Sunday morning of football where you really could notice that the temperature had dropped and unfortunately the rain had come along to join it too.  This wasn't going to deter the Bee's from getting stuck in for Sunday morning football.

Against another strong Chapel team the Bee's had to show their strength in defending from the kick off.  They all did a great job.

Joshua central in defence with Rocco and Leo dropping back to support. They soon moved the ball up the field and created lots of opportunities for Charlie.

Charlie made some great runs up the field and was unlucky to not find the back of the net.  A few just went wide of the post and a couple of great stops by the Chapel keeper.

Meanwhile at the Bee's end of the pitch Stanley was being put to the test in goal.  Fortunately this week he was on his 'A' game and made save after save to stop the opposition scoring. He also showed great confidence coming out of his area to clear the ball before the opponents could get to it.

In midfield Seren and Alexander were doing a great job tackling and intercepting passes.  However halfway through the first half Seren realised she wasn't feeling too well so had to come off. Get well soon Seren, we'll see you next week.

In the second half Rocco took on the role of defender while Joshua moved up to midfield.

Rocco showed how strong he can be in this position making so many good tackles and passes up the field. Joshua also took on the role of midfielder and was brilliant at supporting Toby up front.

Toby really got stuck in, coming very close to finding the back of the net when taking a shot from a rebound.

Alexander went in goal in the second half and made lots of good saves, really showing lots of confidence and focus in this position.

With lots of teams struggling for goalkeepers it's great to have members of the team so keen to play this position and also do such a great job.

Leo and Charlie continued until the end to push up the field, with Leo doing a great job of running past the defence and creating some great opportunities.

At the end all the parents agreed it was a great game to watch and the kids had a brilliant time.

Well done Bee's! 👏🏻👏🏻

There really were lots of good performances this week.  However, the player of the match went to Stanley for an outstanding first half in goal. Well done Stanley.👏🏻👏🏻
