Match report New Mills Juniors U7-v- AFC Stockport Tigers U7 - Mike Doyle Centre - 11th October 2025

We started with 1 at the back today and 3 playing a midfield attacking role, perhaps brave to only have one at the back to begin with but we wanted to give the opportunity for more players to be positioned up front to ensure fair rotation of positions from previous matches; we started with a hard working midfield so we were happy to go with that and it was our intention to give a strong performance straight away.

The game got underway and very quickly from the kick off with some good passing moves we started with a high press into the opposition's half creating some good opportunities with the first goal coming within the first few minutes. That first early goal gave a huge uplift to the boys and you could see the positivity on their faces. Some great tackling, passing and team work from all the players generating the chances to further increase our scoreline.

Every single player was really putting a shift in, putting pressure on the ball when Stockport Tigers had it, tackling to get it back and playing really creatively when we were in possession. Stockport Tigers were also playing some good football and creating some chances on the counter attack bringing the ball into New Mills half and this is when we saw the midfield 3 coming back to support their defence; pre match talks and training certainly produced results when we see the team working together as such.

We were playing well and worked hard to really put a shift in; it felt like the ball was just dropping for us at times. Credit to Stockport Tigers, they gave it their all and for a team that were unable to rotate or have substitutions due to low numbers they all played magnificently.

Henry in goal first half, Louie in goal second half and rotation of defence and midfield attack comprising Tobias, Angus, Ollie, Seb and Joseph. Hatrick's from both Joseph and Seb with additional goal contributions from Henry and Ollie. Player of the match being Tobias – gave some great input, always listened and held a good defence.

All in all a very good team performance to be proud of, well done boys.
