Match Report NMJFC U10 Hornets v RNE Blue - 9/11/24

“Bright & Breezy” was the call from the coaches before our 9am Kick-Off at Stockport Sport Village this Saturday morning.

'Light & Easy' was the actual reality! We only do positive here and no other team on the planet deserves the respect & admiration these boys have received over the last couple of seasons. Utterly justified as you have gone from strength-to-strength due to your own hardwork.

All you have achieved in the past 24 months has got you to the top-flight of The Stockport Metro League and it was poignant that it was ‘Remembrance Weekend’ as the team need to collectively remember what huge strides they have made in such a short period of time.

The boys took to the field, brothers-in-arms and paid their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to allow us this privileged life we lead. That wasn’t lost on the boys and they were impeccable throughout the minute silence.

As coaches, we had made a few tweaks to the line-up and changed some positions. The aim was to create more goal-scoring opportunities and we will continue try and improve the team every weekend. The two sides were very evenly matched and there was almost nothing in it. It was so close we were struggling to make changes and some of the lads didn’t get as much game-time as others unfortunately.

Once the final whistle was blown, it was clear The Hornets are playing their football at the correct level. Every match is a real battle and we are going toe-to-toe with the best teams in our area now. We had a debrief afterwards and whole squad were in agreement that this level of football will be testing & tough. It will also squeeze another 10% or more out of each and everyone of us and that will keep us improving.

Bring on Inter Cheadle next weekend – WE ARE UP FOR THE TEST!
