The match kicked off with Seren between the posts, and she quickly proved why she’s such a dependable goalkeeper. Her confidence shone throughout, making diving saves look effortless and even stopping one powerful shot with her knee. Seren’s distribution was equally impressive - a huge drop kick sent the ball soaring upfield, and her calm passes out to teammates helped the team build from the back.
In defence, Poppy D held the left side while Martha covered the right, and both put in outstanding performances. Poppy’s energy was relentless, pushing the ball forward with strong runs and helping transition play into attack. Martha had one of her best games yet, showing excellent positional awareness and bravery in challenges. She stuck to her role, made key tackles, and even tested the opposition keeper with a few ambitious attempts on goal. Her understanding of the game continues to grow, and it showed.
On the wings, Ava and Annabella brought creativity and drive. Both attacked the opposition confidently, making clever runs and linking up well with their teammates. They weren’t afraid to track back either, dropping into defence when needed to help Seren and the back line. Their ability to win the ball back and immediately push it forward made a real difference.
Stevie controlled the middle of the park with power and poise. She used her strength well to push past the opposition and played smart passes out to friends, linking particularly well with Ava and Annabella. Up front, Poppy J was tireless - pressing defenders, finding space, and getting several good shots on goal that really tested the strong Wilmslow keeper. Her determination to pick up the ball from midfield and drive forward kept the pressure on.
When substitutions were made, Paige, Florence, and Millie brought fresh energy and skill. Florence was composed and confident, holding up the ball beautifully and passing intelligently to set up attacking plays. Paige showed real flair - even when surrounded by three defenders, her clever drag-backs and quick thinking created shooting opportunities. Millie was a force at the top, constantly running to the byline and cutting back in with purpose.
In the second half, Seren continued her brilliant form, making sharp saves and reacting quickly to clear danger. Martha read the game superbly, mopping up loose balls and staying composed under pressure. Poppy D kept up her strong passing and forward runs, while Stevie dominated the middle once again. Annabella was a constant menace to the opposition, Ava continued driving the ball forward with confidence, and Poppy J remained solid up front. Paige kept testing the keeper with well-placed shots, Millie worked tirelessly in attack, and Florence impressed with her quick footwork and control.
Player of the Week went to Seren for her outstanding listening, remarkable saves, and positive attitude throughout. The team’s effort, teamwork, and smiles never faded - another excellent performance from a group of girls who clearly love the game and play for each other.
