Match Report NMJFC U11s - 03/02/24

Stockport Metro League

U11 Boys v Hillgate Boys.

Coaches Instructions: “Boys, let’s start fast and do what we practised at training”.

Exactly what the lads did this morning, it was great to see the boys implementing training practices into the game, and even sweeter when the ball ends up in the back of the net after Harry P calmly slotted the ball passed the oppositions goal keeper at the end of the move.

This was the highlight of what was a great first half from the Millers.

Oli C was great in goals, producing great saves, mixing up his kick outs which bagged him an assist today.

Eddie, Brodie, Leyton and Joseph were strong in defence, battling hard to break down every attack and playing out from the back at every opportunity.

Midfielders Sam, Tyler, Jimmy, Bobby, Harry P dominated the midfield playing lovely passing attacking football allowing Oli F and Harry F pressure the Hillgate goal.

The teams  determination and mix of play was rewarded again before half time with Oli F running onto a long kick out and finishing expertly.

Hillgate started the second half the best and produced plenty and pressure on the boys and got some goals of their own. A little disjointed it took the boys same time to settle and not get involved in a scrappy game.

Once the game settled both teams played out a great finish to the game. New Mills found themselves with a last minute free kick for the second weekend in a row. But this time the crossbar denied the Millers.

Overall a very entertaining game and a fair result.

Today's goals were scored by:

Harry P ⚽️

Oli F ⚽️

The ‘brainmat’ players of the match this week goes to Harry F. Harry was great this week, always finding space and working forward excellently. Well done Harry.
