Match Report NMJFC U11s vs Wythenshaw Pumas - 24/10/26
The boys began today’s fixture with a moment’s silence to honour the late Richard Gregg, a founder of the league and a former chairman. A fitting tribute before getting down to business.
For the first time this season, we were down to a bare seven, meaning there would be no substitutes and no opportunity for a breather. Organisation, teamwork and looking after one another were going to be key.
The Millers started brightly and, despite falling behind, showed great character to get themselves straight back into the game. Stanley calmly converted a penalty to bring us level, with the game still finely balanced as both sides pressed hard and battled for possession.
As the first half progressed, Stanley found his second of the afternoon before Hugo added a third just ahead of the break. A fantastic way to finish the half and give the boys something to build on.
A regroup at half-time reinforced the message: keep working for each other, move the ball, stay composed and believe in what we could achieve.
And what a second half it was!
The Millers really kicked on with some excellent passing, clever movement and great support for one another. The boys were using their heads, making better decisions and showing real confidence in possession.
A change in position saw Reece move further up the pitch, helping create another attacking threat. Stanley went on to grab his fourth of the afternoon, before Reece rounded things off with our fifth and final goal.
An absolutely brilliant team performance. The boys did exactly what was asked of them, showing togetherness, composure and a real understanding of how to play for one another. Five goals were great to see, but the teamwork behind them was just as pleasing.
A special mention to Theo, who stepped in between the sticks today and pulled off some excellent saves when called upon. A great contribution to the team!
Player of the Match – Pavak 🏆
An outstanding performance from Pavak. He seemed to win absolutely every tackle, grew in confidence throughout the game and even had a couple of cracks at goal. He also produced a bit of skill that we haven’t seen from him before! A fantastic all-round display and thoroughly deserved recognition.
A tough test with no substitutes, but the boys dug deep, worked together and produced some fantastic football. Plenty to be proud of today, Millers! 👏⚽
