On a bright sunny day in Hazel Grove the Millers started the game well.

Strong defending from Brodie, Leo, Bobby and Leighton P kept Richmond at bay.

The midfield worked hard with Harry P, Harry F and Max showing confidence on the ball and creating lots of attacking opportunities for Remu, Mallory and Ollie to try and score the opening goal.

Richmond opened the scoring after a mistake allowing their striker to nip in to score.

Several good chances were created in the remainder of the half but the Millers could not covert them.

A long ball over the top allowed Richmond to double the lead as half time arrived.

Fred was introduced to the back line and the Millers started to control the Richmond attacks with more resistance, Leo moved into left back and Fred and Harry F took control of the defensive line to nullify the Richmond threat.

With Leyton H also making several good saves to keep us in the game.

The half time team talk was to encourage the Millers to keep playing their football and the goals would come.

Remo got one back direct from a corner and the Millers looked like they were going to get back into the game.

Instead it was Richmond who got a third after a misplaced back pass allowed their striker to tap home their third.

Two fantastic one on one saves from Leyton then kept the deficit to two goals.

The Millers response was to shuffle the system and go to a back three to try and get back into the game.

Harry F was added up top and the Millers started to have more waves of attacks and looked most likely to score.

Remo then turned provider with two mazy dribbles and fantastic assists for Max to calmly bring the scores level.

The game was there for both teams to win now and Harry P and Bobby H started to dominate midfield which created several opportunities to win the game. The winner came after neat passing in midfield which found Harry P on the ball who slid Max in on goal with an excellent through ball which Max controlled superbly.

Max then checked back inside and smashed the ball home for his hat trick and the winning goal.

The resilience of the team after being two goals down twice In the game but refusing to accept defeat showed the fantastic team spirit this group has. The recovery runs work rate and strong defence of the whole team allowed the Millers to see the game out and take home the three points maintaining the unbeaten start to the season.

Player of the match could have gone to 5 or 6 players but the coaches gave it to Max for an outstanding effort both with and without the ball capped off with a superb hat trick.
