Match report NMJFC U12 girls - 08/10/22
New Mills Juniors u12 Girls Vs Stockport County
Pre match nerves all round today against the formidable Stockport County who play some outstanding football.
First half with Bella doing her bit for the team and standing up in the keeper position for us first half, made some great saves and good decisions, was nice to see the girls playing out from the back too.
The psychological pressure of goal keeping is a real test and both Bella & Ava overcame that today and did the team, coaches, spectators and club proud.
What to say today apart from a multitude of goals from the Stockport side. New Mills on the back foot, sitting back leaving open spaces for the opposition to get too close to goal and make the most of their star striker.
Again, the Mini Millers getting frustrated with the physicality of some players and getting shoved left, right and centre leaving them frustrated and going into half time 4 nil down.
New Mills side struggle with this style of play which, in a way, shows their sense of fair play.
Getting them to evaluate at half time talks, they went out to have a better second half and Freya L worked hard and broke Stockport’s clean sheet record. Played one of our newbies, Delilah, up front in the second half who unfortunately took a nasty boot to the knee and had to come off but certainly ran her socks off and gave 100%, well done.
A heavy defeat today for us but there’s a ‘next time’ coming up… A tough one under the belt and lots to take out of it too, keep working girls.
