Match Report NMJFC U12 Girls vs West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC U12 Nightha Friendly 31/10/26
It was a crisp, beautiful day for football as our U12s took on a friendly against well-organised West Didsbury side. Despite the date, it was all treats and no tricks for our New Mills girls! We also welcomed new player Laila to the squad – more on her later!
Poppy took the gloves today and was brilliant between the posts, confidently organising her defence, offering great encouragement to her team, making some great saves and starting attacks with some lovely passing from the back.
At the back, Annabella was a real force at right-back, giving opposition attackers no time or space. Despite only her second match, Hollie bossed the centre-back position with strong tackles and some lovely forward play, while
Martha worked tirelessly at left-back, combining important defensive stops with plenty of attacking runs.
Stevie also made a fantastic impact off the bench, showing real intent with some brilliant forward runs.
In midfield and out wide, Florence put in a huge shift, tracking back and supporting the attack.
Paige showed great composure and vision in the middle, creating chances and testing the keeper with some excellent shots.
Ava was full of energy on the right wing, making dangerous runs and firing in some great efforts.
Up front, Millie and debutant Laila kept the West Didsbury defence on their toes with plenty of pressure.
And the goals? Absolutely brilliant! Our opener came from a corner, with Millie whipping in a dangerous ball towards the near post. Laila controlled it neatly before setting up Ava to slot home.
Next, Hollie picked up the ball outside her own area, powered forward and slipped a lovely pass to Millie, who smashed an absolute screamer into the net.
Florence then showed great determination to win the ball in midfield before playing Millie through for her second.
Martha followed with a fantastic run down the left, finding Paige, who unselfishly set up Millie to complete her well-deserved hat-trick.
And we weren't finished! Laila won a brilliant tackle and fed Ava, who raced down the wing and smashed home her second of the game.
A fantastic all-round team performance, with so many contenders for Player of the Match. However, the award went to our debut girl Laila! Two brilliant assists, fantastic work rate, great focus on the coaches' instructions and a superb attitude throughout. What a way to make your debut!
Well done, Laila, and a huge well done to the whole squad. A performance full of teamwork, effort and some cracking goals. What a team!
