This was a high tempo game, with both teams playing some fantastic football. Our lads settled fast and dominated the first ten minutes, keeping the ball on the ground, moving it fast from the backs to the forwards and creating some great chances to take the lead. Oli C bossed his area, Leighton, Eddie and Bobby didn't give Reddish a sniff at goal cutting out every attack and distributing the ball perfectly every time.
It didn't take long for the Millers to take the lead with attacker Harry F calmly finishing a pin point through ball from midfield. At 1-0 up, the Millers kept the pressure on and played with confidence.
Everyone wanted the ball, Oli F and Tyler were consistently up and down the wings helping the defence out, and then breaking at speed linking with midfielders Harry P and Jimmy. Harry P and Jimmy were rock solid in midfield and it was Jimmy who claimed the 2nd for the Millers.
At 2-0 up anyone thinking that this was going to be easy for the Millers had to think again.
Reddish changed their formation and started to press the Millers more and started to produce some of the football we were expecting. Our defence was tested to the limit and only for some great defending from Brodie and the lads Reddish could have been on the scoresheet earlier that they eventually were. It was a scramble in the box and Reddish pulled one back just before half time.
After the break, Reddish pushed hard for a equalizer, pushing forward at pace having their own period of domination. The Millers defended in all positions like their season depended on it.
Lucas made some vital interceptions in midfield to slow down the Reddish attacks.
Having soaked up so much pressure the boys pushed back and started to take control again. Some lovely passing play around the opposition box gave Harry P space at the edge of the box to finish an unstoppable shot to the top corner give the Millers a 3-1 lead.
This wasn't the end of the Reddish pressure who added their 2nd to give us a nervous last five minutes. The boys focused and battled hard to make sure they were victorious today. Well done boys.
The ‘brainmat’ man of the match was Oli C, Oli's distribution of the ball today was excellent. Well done Oli C.
