It was a soggy one….
Today’s game started off wet for the girls who turned up ready to go nonetheless. We played Alderley United this weekend whose players didn’t fancy the rain as much and so we started the game playing 4 v 4 with 3 of our girls having to wait to get going on the subs bench.
Emily started in goal making some great saves from the Alderley attackers. In front of her we had Nora on the right and Skye on the left, both making some fantastic tackles and running up the pitch with the ball to get us chances on goal early. Elle was positioned up top and worked tirelessly to get chances on goal. Skye took full advantage of one of these chances and got the opening goal of the game.
Half way into the first half it was the three substitutes time to shine as we swapped all our outfield players. Now we had Nina up front doing all she could to frustrate there defence working hard to keep the ball. At the back was Nancy and Isla, both again up for the challenge of winning the ball back and pushing the team up the lines. Isla was as strong as ever this week and Nancy was amazing with the ball at her feet having multiple chances on goal.
During the second half Skye went in goal showing her calmness under pressure and making saves with ease. Emily took up position outfield and joined her team mates in winning the ball back and defending the goal like a pro. Nora had an amazing second half topping it off scoring two more goal.
The girl of the game trophy this week went to Isla for her strong tackling and running with the ball that helped the team massively throughout the game. 🏆⚽️
