Match report NMJFC U8's V Whaley Bridge Blues - 3/11/24

What can I say . . . .  The teams best game so far this season!

This week it all came together and every single member of the team turned up and put in their best performance by a mile. We just couldn’t believe what we were seeing and how all that coaching & practice came together and you kids put on an show, reminding us all why we love this beautiful game!

Reuben was incredible in goal. He kept out shot after shot, was catching balls that should have been hitting the back of the net & making goal-line saves.  Even more impressive was his distribution. Reuben has been practicing how to maximise his area and get those goal-kicks out quickly and to set-up our wide players. Today he absolutely nailed it!

Max, Teddy & Ned made sure we were safe at the back. All three of them completely on their game and refusing to let the Whaley attackers through. Ned was on another level. He just failed to accept that anyone was allowed to take the ball past him. Possibly Ned’s greatest ever game, he was at war with the Whaley attackers and as coaches, we were so impressed.

Max was in fine form. Dominating defence & creating the counter-attack. Scoring goals and setting up everyone else. Such an unselfish performance peaked at the moment he realised he could provide Aiden with an opportunity to get his first goal. Aiden was on his game and following instructions well. On another day Aiden, this tactic will work but the coaches will remember, more than anything, the wonderful team you are becoming.

Teddy was also solid at the back and was spraying the ball around to create chances for our attackers who flourished from his accurate passing and generosity. With Ted & Max at the back you will not find two bigger hearts who continue to go the extra-mile to get their team mates in attacking opportunities. This week our forwards took them in abundance.

Ryan has been in the most sensational form this season and scored a well-earned hat-trick. Harrison plays on the other wing and was also in fine form scoring goals and tracking back. Both these boys are adding so many qualities to their game and it is really impressive to see how much you’re learning.

Speaking of learning - Our little super-star has only gone and scored her first goal. Mia is one of the most hardworking kids I have ever coached. She doesn’t do average! Mia wants to be better than everyone she plays with and against . . . . . and she will – very soon! In training she has been getting better & better. On Sunday she was outrageous. Never giving up…. Ever! Even when she took one in the face.

We also welcomed Myles back this weekend who as effectively been on ‘International Duty’ playing for another team. He slotted straight back in to his home team and showed how he has matured by unselfishly setting up goals for the team and this, essentially proved to be our dominance. Myles also scored one of the best goals we have seen this season. What was the most heart-warming to see, was with seconds to go, the team had realised Teddy wasn’t on the score-sheet. After conceding a goal, Myles laid the ball back to Teddy who from his own half, hit the ball into the top corner and stunned even the referee….. Then his ridiculous celebration. What it proved is this team is coming into its own right now and every single one of those kids is rapidly improving and continuing to learn.

Loads of goals ⚽️ loads of fun on show 😊 POTM went to Reuben Schmeichel🏆 for an incredible performance between the sticks 👏🏻

Proper Proud of you all Mini-Millers – Keep it up.

⚽️🖤💛⚽️
