MATCH REPORT NMJFC U9s - 01/02/25

Today the U9’s were up against High Lane Gazelles at Benchill for the 13:10 kick off. 

We were missing James and Pavak through illness and injury so we only had our starting 7 to play with.

Teddy agreed to take the first half shift in goal, with Rhys and Charlie T in defence, Stanley, Charlie J and Jackson in midfield, and Dylan as striker.

The boys started well creating chances but weren’t able to beat the Gazelles goalkeeper.

High Lane caught us out on the counter attack a couple of times in what was a frustrating half for the boys who were ready for the break.

A goalkeeper swap with Dylan taking the 2nd half, Teddy slotted into centre midfield and Charlie J as striker.

With more of a traditional line up the boys dominated play in the 2nd half with attack after attack until our reward came through a cross in from Teddy to Rhys, who played into Stanley to hit in from close range. This was so deserved and really inspired the boys to push for more.

High Lane did respond but the safe hands of Dylan were there to keep them out.

A really tough game today but the boys worked tirelessly throughout, and kept their heads up through the first half struggles.

Player of the match was awarded to Dylan who was unlucky not to get a goal first half, and was there with his safe hands in the 2nd half.
