Today the U9’s were up against Reddish North End Blue, for a 9:50 kick off at Benchill Community Centre.
Before the game got underway it was time to handover the captains armband to Charlie J who will be captaining the team for the next 4 matches.
Today the boys were going to have their work cut out as we only had the starting 7.
We started with Dylan in goal, Rhys and Charlie T in defence, Jackson, Teddy and Stanley midfield, and Charlie J as striker.
Big Thanks to RNE for turning the tops inside out to avoid a colour clash.
The game started with both teams passing the ball well and looking at options for attack, although chances for both sides were slim with midfield and defence for both teams working hard.
Stanley was the first to put the RNE keeper to task with a strong strike which he couldn’t keep hold of, Charlie J was soon there to finish the job off.
The 2nd half got underway and Stanley got the goal he deserved. Minutes later he was almost rewarded with a strong goal of the season contender with an incredible bicycle kick, unfortunately the RNE keeper just kept it out. Awesome effort from Stanley, and a great save!
RNE pushed on and just before the end of the game there attacks were getting closer and closer relying on some awesome saves from Dylan.
A superb team performance today against a very good team. All the boys gave it their all and didn’t complain once despite being absolutely shattered by the end.
Player of the match was given to Teddy. He worked his socks off in midfield, got his tackles in, passed the ball well and didn’t give up.
