Match report NMJFC Under 10s - 23/10/21

New Mills u10 v Bollington u10

New Mills were slow out of the blocks and conceded two very good early goals to Bollington who were sharper all over the pitch.

The defence battled hard with Daniel and Tommy strong in the tackle

Ollie Bobby and Bertie battled hard in midfield and Dan worked tirelessly trying to regain possession for the Millers.

Bobby pulled a goal back with a well taken finish in the bottom corner. Then Bobby got his second with an expert long range free kick. The Millers then conceded a third which was another well worked goal by Bollington.

At half time Liam and Myself emphasised the importance of playing as a team and not individually and to be more positive and supportive of each other. The second half saw Alex, India and Stan come on and galvanise the team.

India going close to scoring on a couple of occasions. Stan winning back possession several times and Alex winning all his big tackles at the back.

The Millers started winning more first and second balls and created several good chances to score.

Ollie then intercepted a pass on halfway drove forward and smashed the ball home for the equaliser.

The game was end to end now and could have gone either way. Harry with more excellent distribution played the ball out to Bertie on the right he expertly headed the ball past the oncoming keeper for the teams first headed goal of the season.

Many positives to come out of this game with the main one being the teams ability to react positively when they are not playing as well they can do.

Improvement week on week from all the players is great to see.
