Match report NMJFC Under 11s girls - 23 Oct 21

New Mills Juniors U11s Girls Vs Stockport Vikings

Early game today and very much calmer and focussed. They really settled into their positioning today and dominated the first half to a very good side. Solid midfield in first half with Nayia & Nieve on the wings and Ava and Jaz covering two positions each as we were short of a few players today. Nayia opening the score sheet from a free kick and smashing top bins – great goal swiftly followed by another from outside the area, loving that Nieve is trying to assist with this each week and supporting others. The girls are loving these shots and taking every opportunity lately, confidence is there! New Mills being quick off the mark today with their “sonic mode” mentality really kept the pressure on and resulted with another from Freya L, assist for Ava there, lovely team work. Some great through balls to feet today, great applying the press we’ve worked on too. Change around for half time to give equal and fair play. Ava opening the second half for us. A physically tough game resulting in the opposition scoring from their free kick. The girls really tried to keep up the pace and determination in the second half and all of them worked hard.

Freya B using her skills around multiple players and taking another, outside the area shot kept us ahead, followed by another, secured the score today. Some great talking to each other and recognising for themselves where they can gain opportunities or change up their game to benefit them as a team!

This is what I want as a Manager, take everything we do in training, put it into your game and make your own choices, there’s no right or wrong, it’s how we all learn and why you can be proud of yourselves today. More importantly than the final result is the way they worked together and made decisions for themselves. They made better use of space today and the pressure they applied showed real understanding. Shout out to Stockport Vikings who provided a good game and kept up fighting for that result, lovely set of girls, coaches & parents. It’s fair at this age and stage of their development to let players try different positions and see it from different angles, they must think differently and adapt quicker - Smashed it. #yesgirls #upthemillers

Girl of the Match today for us is Nayia (who wanted a hat trick so badly)
