New mills u12 v Hillgate blues u12
The Millers were on the road for the first time this season this morning, perfect conditions at Offerton.
After a couple of heavy defeats past 2 weeks against division 1 teams we were against Hillgate who are same division as us and the boys were keen to turn things round.
The game kicked off and we found ourselves 1 down quite early on. The lads didn’t let it affect them though and were playing football and encouraging each other straight away and they looked like scoring nearly every time they went forward. Some quality work down the wings and Archie upfront was causing problems all game and deservedly put New Mills level and then scoring again put the Millers 2-1 up, New Mills could of been out of sight at half time but some fine work from the Hillgate keeper kept them in the game, then the home team caught us on the break and equalised right before the half time whistle.
A quick drink and a bit of a team talk and the Millers were keen to get back out and get going.
2nd half was much of the same, New Mills defenders pretty much controlling the Hillgate attack and keeping them at bay and still playing some fantastic football. The midfielders were working tirelessly as well and again the wingers and striker peppered the Hillgate goal. Another goal from Hillgate put a bit of pressure on and New Mills hit back again. At 3-3 with time running out, Hillgate managed to grab another but the Millers kicked off and scored pretty much straight away. The game kicked off again with the boys knowing all they needed was one more chance, the ref blew for full time shortly after so both teams shared the points. Absolutely brilliant performance from everybody involved today, worked their socks off from start to finish. Could not of asked of anymore.
