Match report NMJFC Under 18s - 24/10/21

The Millers Under 18’s returned to winning ways at Great Moor scoring eight goals in a game for the second time in three games, as midfielder Harry Wyatt notched a hat-trick to earn the Man of the Match award.

The home side started brightly but The Millers soon seized control, Joel Boyes and Kit Maddox alongside Wyatt in the engine room ensuring that their side enjoyed the lion’s share of possession. It came as no surprise when they took the lead thirteen minutes in, Wyatt’s probing ball sending Jake Brooks clear and he fired home to continue his record of scoring in every game this season. Nathan Lees doubled the advantage on 25 minutes netting an incredible individual effort, rounding several defenders before slotting in from a tight angle.

Poor defending saw Great Moor pull one back three minutes later, but The Millers squandered further chances to extend their lead before the interval.

Just seconds into the second period The Millers we’re awarded a penalty, on his first appearance in an Amber shirt half time substitute Harry LR drove into the box and was clumsily brought down by a Great Moor defender. Wyatt stepped up and comprehensively smashed his penalty into the corner of the net to restore his sides two goal lead. Five minutes later Wyatt doubled his tally, Jake Robinson jinked into the area and played a clever square ball into his path, giving him the simplest of tasks in slotting home from six yards out. Boyes corner was headed home by Harry LR on the hour mark to make it five, before the debutant was sent clear by Robinson three minutes later to bag the sixth goal. Wyatt’s completed his hat-trick with 20 minutes to go heading home Jake Brooks cross, before minutes later Robinson scored the goal of the game with a delightful chip from 25 yards.
