Match report NMJFC Under 7s - 25/03/23
10 am kick off against Reddish Villa Villarettes at Brinnington.
We started by remembering Mike Taylor, the founder of NMJFC, with all the children and coaches, from both teams standing and giving a round of applause for 1 minute. This was extra special having his Great Grandson Rhys in our team, and a very proud moment for New Mills. Big Thanks to Reddish Villa Villarettes and Stockport Metro Junior league for getting involved.
The last time we played the Villarettes, we didn’t play as well as we knew we could, so it was important for us today to put in a good team performance.
Despite Stanley putting us 1 up in record time, NM were slow to get properly started and the Villarettes were making us work hard.
It wasn’t long before NM started to find a rhythm, with Stanley hitting the back of the net again, followed shortly by Teddy.
Whilst some great defensive work from a combination of Rhys, Tobias and Charlie, the Villarettes’ hard work paid off as they were rewarded with a goal.
A change around at half time brought James out from goal, to be replaced by Tobias.
More hard work followed with James getting his name on the scoreboard, followed by more from Stanley and Teddy.
Luck wasn’t on Paige’s side today hitting the woodwork twice in the 2nd half - so close Paige!
The Villarettes weren’t for giving up and pushed hard towards the end forcing some stops from Tobias, before scoring a great free kick.
Player of the Match went to Tobias today. Some solid defensive work in the first half, and some great saves in goal for the 2nd. Well done Tobias.
