It was the coldest morning of the season so far at Glossopdale against Chinley U8 Whites.
The weather dominated conversation before the match and the Falcons knew they had to keeping moving to stay warm and play with a high level of energy.
Games against Chinley are always entertaining, open and played in the right competitive spirit - and this was no exception. The first half was very even with both teams having good spells of possession, passing the ball nicely and creating some good chances.
The second half opened up even more, with the Falcons goalkeeper Oscar making some outstanding saves from the lively Chinley attack. The Falcons kept their shape really well when on the back foot - their defending today from set pieces was outstanding and the quality of tackling improved hugely.
They were unlucky not to score today, but the huge positive was their defending - taking what we’ve been focusing on in training into a game and absolutely delivering. The communication, awareness and organisation was fantastic.
Special mention to today’s captain Poppy who put 100% effort in for the full game today. She was a constant threat up front, using the wings to make excellent runs and stretch the oppositions defence. Her communication was excellent today too - always talking to her team-mates, asking for the ball and showing where she wanted to receive the ball too.
Well done Falcons - very tough conditions today, but you were all amazing!
