New Mills Bees under 8’s vs New Mills Wasps under 8’s
A fresh morning in Glossopdale brought the Bees second consecutive derby match. Everyone was up for this game and despite the Bees having a depleted squad due to Stanley being away swimming with baby sharks and Joshua failing a late fitness test, we were raring to go.
The match started brightly with some early pressure from the Wasps, leading to a very early goal that Toby just couldn't reach.
However, Toby 'the cat' would go on to make several important saves in the first half. It was too close to call in the first half as the teams were so evenly matched.
Charlie was fired up and ready to put in some good strong challlenges. A quick few passes from the Bees saw Charlie break through and get off the mark for the season.
The game was evenly played from defence to attack, with every Bees player concentrating and closing down the Wasps.
Great defensive martialling from Leo helped keep the Wasps at bay, it was end to end action throughout the first half with Charlie bagging another goal.
Strong midfield performances from both Alexander and Seren who worked hard in midfield in getting their tackles in.
The game was evenly poised by half time with each team battling hard in every position.
The second half brought a switch around with Alexander going in goal with Toby playing outfield, Leo switching up into midfield and Rocco being our stalwart defender.
There were some great runs from Leo, some important tackles by Seren and Toby as the game was evenly poised throughout the second half.
It was a great, friendly derby played in the true spirit of our 'One team' approach.
Well done to Charlie for being 'Player of the Match' this week, his tenacity and desire to play is a shining example, well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
