A cold, wet and windy morning at Glossopdale for the Falcons game against CHCS U8 Lions.
The Falcons have been excellent the last few weeks, but with a couple of the squad unavailable this was always going to be a huge test against a very well drilled opposition.
From the first whistle, the Falcons found it hard to get into their usual rhythm, struggling to get time on the ball against a composed yet physical CHCS team. But the team showed their amazing spirit and their persistence was rewarded with a goal, which Alfie will rightly claim ⚽️
The second half was another tough period. The Falcons were battling for every ball and never gave up right up to the final whistle. They came up against a very good side today, in horrible weather, but there were still loads of positives to take away and areas to focus on in training.
Huge thank you to Oliver from the NMJU8 Eagles for his support in the second half as additional cover.
Special mention to today’s captain Poppy. As our striker she held the ball up brilliantly and always looked for the right pass as her team mates made runs to support her. What stood out today was Poppy having to be tougher in the tackle and more physical than normal - and showing that she is more than a match for some of the biggest opponents she’ll come up against this season.
Well done today Falcons - a tough game, but your attitude and effort was first class as always. Roll on next week!
