Match report NMJU9 Eagles v Glossop NE Reds - 05/02/23
The Eagles turned up at Glossopdale in high spirits today. A few players with the mindset that they will gain their first win for a couple of months against this great Glossop team.
After last weeks showing the team were hopeful of carrying over their season best performance into todays game but Glossop were out of the starting blocks quicker and passing the ball around very easily. Most of the team must have been shouting all Saturday night at “The Masked Singer” as communication was none existent in this first half.
Shots were continuously raining in on William in the Eagles goal but unfortunately he couldn’t do anything about the half time score.
After a stern talking to at half time and with added zest in the Eagles play, they started to pass the ball around and were soon making the Glossop keeper work. Chances came and went and the teamwork in this second half was superb. They moved forward together as a team and defended as a team. Their passing and movement together was brilliant.
Overall the cliche “a game of two halves” can be used in this case as the second half Eagles team can be proud of their performance.
As coaches we know this team can play well when they switch on and listen to advice.
Player of the match today went to Hayden. This little guy has been brilliant in defence since the turn of the year and every week he puts in player of the match performances. If he carries this on we will have to rename the trophy after him. 😀
Special mentions to Oliver who ran and ran all match, and also to Robbie who constantly tries his best but couldn’t quite get his goal. Also Jacob who was feeling a little under the weather but put in a great shift today when called upon. Hope you feel better after your hot dog 🤪
Well done Eagles
Up the Eagles 🦅
