Match report NMJU9 Eagles v NMJU9 Falcons - 05/03/23

Match report NMJU9 Eagles v NMJU9 Falcons - 05/03/23

After a couple of weeks break due to half term and availability issues we were back at Glossopdale in this derby against the Falcons.

We train with these players every week and so we all know what both teams offer.

The game offered a debut to new signing Archie who already knows most of the team as he goes to the same school as a few of the players and so dropped into the team like a seasoned professional!!

Early advances were coming mostly from the Falcons with the Eagles defending superbly.

The Eagles kept trying to break forward with every opportunity as the Newtown trio of Sami, Frankie and Archie looking to lead the break every time.

Several good chances were created with the best falling to Archie, but he was unable to find the target with only the keeper to beat.

The Falcons grew stronger and they soon had the breakthrough in play. Zac had an absolute worldy but somehow he was beaten!

Both posts were constantly rattled as the Falcons continued to hit them but the Eagles managed to finish the half stronger and closed the deficit that their play deserved.

A common practice with the Eagles is a stronger second half performance, and they didn’t disappoint today, as again their second half performance was excellent.

Every player linked up superbly and the Eagles were consistently finding the post in this half. Chances at both end came and went and Zac in the Eagles goal was outstanding. He kept out the Falcons virtually single handedly at times as the Falcons were finding themselves through on goal quite regularly.

In the latter stages of the game, it was end to end as both teams had chances with both teams continually trying to get the goal.

A debut goal from Archie, well done!! 👏🏻

A great performance from both teams and they can all be proud of that display.

Player of the match today was quite simply a one man show from Zac. Some of his saves today were quite simply tremendous and kept the Eagles in it until the final whistle.

Special mentions today for Archie, who took an early knock and had a bad cut but carried on. Zac who always offers to go in goal when needed and Nathan who was superb in defence again today. He was also in the wars a little today but returned to action to help out.
