Match Report - U11 Yellows - 17/11/24

The Yellows were in the middle of a tough run of fixtures and that continued against Chapel Town Blues U11’s at Glossopdale on Sunday.

We knew this team were very strong, well drilled, with quick technical players. If the Yellows were going to compete, today was about giving 100% effort and doing the basics right.

The game started evenly, with a lot of the game happening in midfield. Jack, Angus Oscar and Riley were in the thick of it, making some big tackles to try and win possession back for the Yellows. As the first half went on, Chapel started to win more of the loose balls and quickly pressed forward creating some clear cut chances. Lucas, Nathan and Henry (our captain for today) were being tested in defence as the 3 Chapel forwards were making life tough with some physical 1v1 battles.

As we went into the second half, some changes made for the Yellows to get some fresh legs on the pitch. Sami and Robbie more than played their part in this with some fantastic tackling and passing, Fletcher was great at putting pressure on the opposition defence too.

Special mention to Bertie for making his Yellows debut today. In the second half especially he made some great tackles and read the game really well. It’s worth noting that now it’s 5 of the Yellows squad who have not played competitive football before this season. So a big part of the Yellows development has been learning to work together and understand the basic principles of being a team.

🏆 Zac, our goalkeeper, with another very well deserved player of the match trophy. His bravery in goal is unbelievable, reacting to loose balls and second saves really stood out today.

⚽️ Leo with another very well taken goal today. His confidence in front of goal is growing every week. Well done!

Today was a real tough test for the Yellows against arguably the strongest team in the league. But this team is full of character and ready to bounce back again next week.
