Match report, 06/11/22,

New Mills Bees U8 vs Buxton Young Bucks U8 Blues

This week the Bees were playing Buxton Young Bucks.  Everyone arrived early, which gave us the perfect chance to get on the pitch early, warm up and talk to the kids about silent support week.  The FA initiative was a chance for the coaches and parents to keep quiet and let the kids communicate better and work more independently.  The perfect chance for the kids to show us what they can do and as coaches to watch and see how they get on.

Toby was nominated captain this week for pushing himself out of his comfort zone and playing out in the field.  This left a vacancy in goal which Leo quickly filled.  Both did a great job in playing in positions they're not used to.  Leo made some fantastic saves and passed the ball out really well from goal kicks.

Toby showed great confidence in midfield, really getting stuck in, making loads of tackles, good runs up the field and lots of great passes.

Seren again this week showed how hard she has been training and really got stuck in with tackles, making it really difficult for the opposition to progress up the field.  It was a great first half from the Bees with lots of great defending and a few good runs up the pitch.

Whilst they all played brilliantly in the first half they had still struggled to find the back of the net.  A reminder at half time to keep communicating changed everything.  They got back on the pitch and more than ever before we heard shouts for passes and lots of great communication to help each other with marking and throw-ins.  This was what silent support week was all about and they started playing some of the best football we've seen.

Lots of great passes between Joshua, Leo and Charlie creating lots of space and opportunities.  This led Charlie to quickly find the back of the net.  A free kick in the second half gave the bees another chance.

Charlie stepped up and hit a great shot looping over the wall and into the goal.  Stanley was in goal in this second half and showed how much he has learnt about playing in this position, passing the ball out really well and making his usual great array of saves.

Joshua got a chance to play in midfield in this half while Leo held back in defence.  Working well in midfield with Alexander they kept feeding the ball up to Charlie creating lots of chances.

Another great match and us coaches are really proud of how the Bees keep on improving.

Watching from the sidelines and not being able to shout to pass it up the pitch and other instructions was difficult at first but giving them a chance to find their voices and communicate between themselves was brilliant.  Whilst the coaches won't remain silent each week, we'll definitely be giving the kids more of a chance to make their own mistakes and work things out more.

Player of the match this week went to Toby for showing confidence to play out in the field and showing how much he is improving each week on match days.  Well done Toby!
