Match report 16th September NMJU8

MATCH REPORT 16th September NMJU8

A 9am kick for the U8’s today, against Juno Puma’s, at Brinnington, in the Stockport Metro league.

Much cooler than last week, we had another full squad for the game.

We opted to start with Charlie in goal, Rhys (Captain) in defence, Teddy and Stanley in midfield, and James as striker.

We kicked off and immediately started some superb passing, all the way back to defence and then forward into space for an attack on goal. Perhaps Juno were just warming up as they soon started to build some attacks themselves.

Some really good midfield battle’s from both sides until Stanley broke free and opened up the scoring.

This midfield battle continued, with Juno pulling one back every time we went ahead. Half time and we swapped ends for the battle to continue.

Following the break, Juno went 1 goal up for the first time in the game, but we kept on plugging away, playing our own game.

We were starting to apply more and more pressure, and with Juno struggling to clear, they kicked the ball out as hard as they could, only to find the feet of James, who on the half way line, pulled out a world class strike which landed beautifully in the top of the net. Absolutely incredible strike, even though we have only played 2 games, this could be the goal of the season.

New Mills applied more pressure and once again, Stanley found the net from a tough angle.

A superb team effort today,

Charlie T pulling off many great saves in goal.

Captain Rhys covering in defence and midfield, awesome as ever.

Teddy making some really good runs down the wing, and setting up attacks.

Jackson working his socks off in midfield, once again so many tackles.

Charlie J getting in on the action up front, some great foot work and a constant threat.

Stanley hitting the net another 4 times.

And our player of the match. James was superb today, he doesn’t usually play in defence but in the second half especially, he was outstanding, constantly in position to stop any threat from Juno, and then his goal, what a performance. Awesome !

Well done New Mills U8’s !
