Match Report New Mills U9 Wasps VS Buxton Juniors U9 Athletic 01/10/23
Now this morning was more like the season we are all used to. Sopping wet!! But this was not dampening the spirit of a determined team of Wasps.
With the absence of our team captain Dylan some adjustments were made through the week to prepare us for todays tough game.
The captain for the day and wearing his “Play Safe” armband… our Goalkeeper Frankie C. We were also supported by a special guest substitute Frankie H.
Alfie and Kai were on the wings 🪽and as instructed they were running up and down the whole game. Calling for the ball more and trying to set up the shots even more.
Kai ⚽️ made the perfect run in the second half and the ball was placed right in front of him set up for a beautiful goal. Alfie is getting hungrier for a goal every game. His full body commitment led to him taking a ball to the face at some force. Although he might have a shiner in the next week, it didn’t stop him from chasing.
Rocco 💪🏻 was in attack today and the opposition definitely saw him as a threat and game him a rough time. It gave him some free kick practice though and we are all waiting for a screamer from him in the near future. The boys left the pitch with sore knees today but not a sore ego. Consistent every game and hungry for the goals.
Our defensive line up is becoming stronger and stronger with each game they play.
Sam, Alexander and Jacob. All three started on the pitch today and Sam pushed up to a more defensive midfielder position allowing him to drop back and push forward when needed. Alexander was on great form today, lots of clearances and a little more bravery today. Jacob is dominating the role of CB and we see him developing as a leader.
Frankie H 🔀 was our playmaker today, a fantastic addition to the Wasps. A number of threatening long passes and setting up shots from the other end of the pitch. Such a pleasure to have him on our team today.
Frankie C 🧤🥷 todays captain and wow did this boy step up to the position today. Very vocal from his net. You would struggle to go back and count the number of saves made by this man today. He was on amazing form. There were diving saves, leg stretching saves and throwing his whole body on the line saves. His performance today earned our young goalkeeper Player of the Match.
The Wasps are a relatively new team this season and are growing through each and every game. Their heads don’t go down and they are committed to the final whistle. Making their coaches and their parents very proud.
