Derby day again at Glossopdale this afternoon for the Mini Millers with it being the penultimate league game of the season. Both teams were looking to end a successful season brightly.
The game started at a blistering pace and Bobby the Blacks captain of the day was really fired up for the occasion as was all the u10 Blacks and Yellows.
Before the game started we told the players there was going to be lots of changes today so maximum effort was required.
Harley continued his fine run of form and managed to get the Yellows off to an electric pace with excellent free kicks and shots from all over.
With Halftime looming, Bobby, who is improving each week managed to get yet another goal with a superb run down the left and a great strike to be saved by Oscar onto the post. Unfortunately the rebound fell into the path of Bobby for a calm finish.
Shea and Oliver formed yet another good partnership at the back and frustrated the Yellows for large parts of the game.
With the introduction of Liam and Archie, the Yellows keeper was forced upon to keep Liam out after a great strike to the bottom right.
Just after Halftime the Blacks continued to make changes with Kian, who had returned from sickness replacing James in goal, who yet again was superb.
For the 1st half, he managed to make yet another unbelievable save from Poppy from an excellent long range strike that seemed certain to be a goal, to be topped over the bar.
Well done James.
The prospect of James playing outfield really got him motivated. Perhaps the offer of 30 pounds a goal from his mum helped.
So, none the less, myself and Mike opted to play him up front for the remaining 10 mins and on any another day, his mum may be regretting that decision.
2nd half and the Yellows put up a real fight with Frankie and Lucas both scoring great individual goals, well done guys.
The highlight of the game for myself and Mike was towards the end of the game, when our ever reliable, Joe, whom always does as the coaches ask with such passion, and never complains when asked to play so many different positions, he always gives his all, and after some great play from Bobby and wonderful strike of the bar, Joe pounced to smash home with a thunderous left foot shot gaining his 1st goal of the season thoroughly deserved. Well done Joe.
Player of the match went to Harley!
A special "thank you" to Paul and Rick for volunteering this season and we all wish them all the best in pastures new. 👌🏻
