Match Report NMJFC U10s Yellows v Blacks - 15/10/23
Derby day has finally arrived and everyone was looking forward to this fixture, the weather on this Sunday afternoon was perfect for a game of football.
The New Mills derby’s have normally been a tight affair so the Yellows would have to be on form.
Unfortunately, the squad was smaller due to injury (Henry) and illness (Poppy) however, we still felt we were strong enough to compete with a good Blacks team.
Kick off came and again for the second week running, the Yellows started a little behind the pace.
The defensive pair of Nathan and Lucas were under pressure from the relentless Blacks .
The midfield 3 of Angus , Archie and Franky struggled to get there foot on the ball as the Blacks closed us down very fast leaving captain Sammie looking for scraps upfront.
Substitution’s made and on came Rowan working tirelessly in defence.
Oscar on the wing chasing every ball and Robbie upfront always waiting to pounce.
Finally a breakthrough and Archie had a shot that crashed against the crossbar, it wasn’t looking like our day.
Half time and the word from the management was go out and win the second half get some pride back.
And the Yellows went for it straight from the off and like a different team were pressing and passing which they were rewarded with by a beautiful finish from Archie.
The game was now opened up and was more like a New Mills derby with end to end play that made for a great second half.
Some great talent on show today from the New Mills teams with some fantastic individual performances.
Well done to the Blacks for a tough derby game that was played in the right spirit 👍🏻⚽️
Yellows have plenty of positives from the second half and plenty of things to work on in training.
And finally a big well done to Franky, our player of the week who never gave up and came off smiling and is an absolute credit to the team. 👏🏻👏🏻
