Match Report NMJFC U11s girls v Tintwistle- 20/11/23
Really good game of football this. The match was full of action and was played in the right spirit by both teams.
In the pre-match team talk we encouraged the girls to play with confidence and to pass the ball. We also discussed the need for the midfield to push up and support the strikers. This was taken on board particularly by Lily who was outstanding in the first half and deservedly got herself an assist and a goal.
The attacking play was good today. Brooke showed off her amazing skills and was a constant threat to the Tintwistle defenders. Her finishing in front of goal was as deadly as ever. She has also developed into an expert corner taker and put some dangerous balls into the box.
Elsie carried an injury today but battled hard and was rightly rewarded in the second half with a couple of goals. Great attitude and resilience.
Isla started the game in an unfamiliar midfield role but put in a top performance as usual and dominated the middle of the pitch. The opposition keeper pulled off a great save to deny her a goal.
Tallulah built on her good performance last week and worked hard in both defence and in midfield.
It was a real captains display today from Emily. A strong half in defence followed by a good second half in midfield. When Millie picked up an injury late on Emily straight away offered to go in goal. Definitely a team leader.
Erin led the defence well today and won countless tackles to stop the Tintwistle forwards.
Throughout the game Mille dominated her penalty area and showed real bravery on a few occasions.
Todays goals were as follows, the stand outs being shots from the edge of the area from Lily and Emily:
Brooke ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Elsie ⚽️⚽️
Lily ⚽️

Player of the match was Brooke; fantastic attacking display and clinical in front of goal.
