Match Report NMJFC U13 Girls - 29/09/24

Faced Great Moor this morning and the u13s were up for it.

The strength down the centre, from front to back with Del, Nieve, Annie & Izzy and ability to play the ball out wide to Grace and Alissa on the wings showed good football.

Great timed through balls again and holding play in the middle.  Lily a lot on her plate all game who never gave up with Mia on the other side for cover and great communication for marking up each player.

Countless saves from Taylor throughout the game who threw herself into every save and great energy to get her players pushed out when taking goal kicks. Great to hear her support for her team mates, she's always so encouraging of others and has lightening reactions.

With no subs the girls were forced to dig deep but everyone gave it their all despite tired legs.  Our defensive players a real safety net for anything that gets through with Annie and Izzy being first into a tackle and ability to get the ball back up the pitch resulting in Del finding the back of the net with a wonderful forward run 11 minutes in.

They worked incredibly well as a whole today to create many opportunities but a burst from their striker for a one on one with Tay resulted in a penalty as she sped out from her goal to meet their player on the ball, no blame there as our team always admire her bravery and it's a keeper's decision to do what they think is right at the time. Great Moor therefore equalising to lead us into half time.

Excellent throw in decisions today after discussing this from last week's game and many selfless moments on the ball with quick sharp passing.

A real test of endurance as the sun made an appearance in the second half and exhaustion set in but again, Del, fantastic body positioning and another perfectly timed run saw us take the lead.

Both wingers under pressure throughout and with a change of sides Alissa sucked up the physicality of the opposition and crossed in some wonderful balls and showed great skill, likewise with Grace on the right who pushed the ball in front and got in front of players.

New Mills then sat back a little and let the Great Moor side play their game, monopolising with fresh subs they scored twice and gained the lead.

Second gear kicked in and a heavily marked Alissa made up good ground with Nieve & Annie running full pelt into the box, she sliced the ball across for Grace to fly in back post and smash it into the corner.  Wonderfully celebrated and worked for, well done Grace.

Icing on the cake today with a patiently taken strike, Del secured a hattrick, apparently meaning Mum has to stump up for new boots!

They're trusting each other as a team and it's great to watch from the sidelines, feel like we play our best football when we set out to attack. Today was a nice win. Well done girls.

Our Player of the Match today, truly deserved after being so tough on herself in training went to Del, the smile says it all.
