New Mills u14s 2 v Hazel Grove 0
With the pitch freshly cut, the morning dew untouched the conditions were perfect.
The lads were all on time and really up for it and it showed even from the warmup.
I know it's early into the season but Myself, Nick and Tom have noticed a big improvement in the lad's approach to games and overall attitude, which is now showing in games.
With a bit of a re-jig from the managers the lads were at Hazel Grove from the start, never giving them a second on the ball and putting in the yards off the ball.
The great defensive display was keeping Grove to shooting from distance, which Dil had no trouble with. ........ With all the lads working tirelessly Joel made the most of the space he worked for himself to create the opening GOAL for Bogden.
At half time the lads listened and knew they were going to have to dig in deep and what a performance by them all.
With Dillan getting a strong hand to a great shot, down to his right the Millers grew in confidence and on the break the ball fell to Ben who unselfishly squared to Lewis who drove the ball home from 20yards out to seal the well-deserved win.
Everyone deserves a mention, as like I said, all over the pitch the lads were excellent.
Up next the Manchester Cup , where the lads take on Barr Hill in their 1st ever tie in the competition.
