Match Report NMJFC U14s Girls - 11/10/25

New Mills U14s Girls were away to East Leigh AFC in the 1st round of the cup today.  A good start to the game and the Millers girls having to tough it out time and again against a very well set out, physical team. 

A good first half and plenty for keeper Taylor to do who made excellent saves and even better long balls up the pitch, literally putting her body on the line and coming out to deny East Leigh on plenty of occasion. Izzy clearing one off the line whilst Taylor scrambled to her feet. 

Strong wing play by Brooke & Isla, Alissa unfortunately not getting the ball to her feet for a lot of the first half on that left wing but good grit when she did, plenty of over the top balls left our midfield struggling to get on the ball. 

Mia & Ruby to support in front of the back line. Nieve and Lily D as strikers heavily confronted by a strong defence. 

Again, switched up players to try & utilise their strengths and gain some momentum but the East Leigh Rebels fought back. Once two nil down the New Mills girls just couldn't catch a break and the scoreline got bigger.

We moved Alissa into the centre to try some more aggression on the attack, we had illness, injury & frustration but took lots away from this game and dissected it all the way home. 

The back line were superb, Lily, another great game for you with Neve by your side closing down play you were a deadly duo. 

More great corners from Mia & Grace. Annie-Mae forced to drop & defend from a barrage of over the top balls left us short on the attack.

Frustrating but just beaten by the better team.  Good luck in the next round East Leigh, thanks for having us.
