Match Report NMJFC U14s V Bollington U14s 17.10.26 New Mills Juniors 5-3 Bollington
A last-minute change of venue this week due to Bollington's home ground being double-booked gave New Mills the home advantage.
First half it was Bollington who started the brightest, not allowing the Millers to settle into the game, and quickly found themselves in front with New Mills failing to clear the lines.
However, this didn't phase the lads and it seemed to spur them on more! It was looking like it was going to be one of those days as they struggled to find the back of the net on a few occasions, but a great run down the wing from Mallory, who put in a great cross, found Remo at the back post who calmly slotted past the keeper, game on!
The half continued in an end-to-end manner, with neither team managing to take control, however, Bollington regained the lead. It was another unusual mix-up at the back. With halftime fast approaching Leighton P played a longball forward and Ollie F managed to beat the defence with a perfectly timed run and lobbed the ball over the onrushing keeper, in what was the last kick of the half.
Second half, and it was Bollington who came flying out the blocks and managed to catch New Mills off guard to regain the lead straight from kick off! However, the Millers wouldn't give up, and began to create chances. The hard work paid off with a great passage of play that was cutely finished off at the near post by Mallory to bring the scores level again.
The Millers continued to battle throughout, and found themselves starting to control the game, creating a host of chances. With the match looking like it was going to end in a draw, up stepped Max, who went on a mazey run beating a number of challenges, and firmly finishing low to the keepers right, great finish. In the dying minutes the Millers won a corner which resulted in Bobby scoring a header six yards out, from a great cross from Hazza, ensuring New Mills take all three points.
Today's POTM went to Mallory, who was awesome throughout the whole game, with a complete performance, well done!
