Match Report NMJFC U8s - 17/10/26
Sat 17 Oct 2026 11:15
Adswood United U8 -v- New Mills Juniors U8
Venue: THE MIKE DOYLE CENTRE
Despite the spout of illness in the team and the never-ending roadworks surrounding the venue, NMJFC U7's had a full squad of 9 for this fixture against a team they haven't faced before.
With a full squad we knew game time would the priority, so we started with:
Charlie in goal, Angus & Tobias in defence, Henry the glue in midfield, bonding Ollie & Seb as our forward 2.
The game changers today:
Alfred - The strength
Joseph - The engine
Louie - Mr Versatile
NMJFC U8's started brightly, going toe to toe with Adswood.
Very little going past the midfield, but when it did, despatched by the defence up the field to our attacking pair.
On the few occasions the defence were breached, Charlie was there with strong hands, and tackles outside the box.
The second half saw team changes, Tobias in goal, but was a similar well fought battle, Adswood clearly frustrated by the resilience of the NMJFC U7's.
Possibly & probably underestimated by the opposition, Adswood had a tough game, one NMJFC U8's will look forward to in coming fixtures.
Another hattrick today for someone who doesn't need to be named, and a solid performance from all 9 U8's.
The team today:
Alfred: A gentle giant. Midfield demolition expert.
Angus: Nothing gets past me, if it does I'm coming!
Charlie: Scares the opposition from anyway on pitch, great performance in goal 1st half.
Henry: The boss in the midfield, commander in defence.
Joseph: Regardless of where he plays, constantly seeks the ball.
Louie: Strong in defence & attack.
Ollie: Had to defend, but always caused trouble going forward.
Seb: Terrorised the opposition throughout.
Tobias: Solid in defence, great performance in goal in the 2nd half.
Player of the match for this game:
Sheer determination, and drive to win the ball. Took a ball in the eye in the process.
Well deserved Ollie...⚽️🟡⚫️🟡⚫️⚽️🏅
