Match Report NMJFC U7's V Chinley- 10/3/24

It was wet & wild at Glossopdale this weekend as the youngest Mini-Millers faced up against a Chinley team who are a force to be reckoned with. The opposition were powerful and proved to be a real test for our fledging group but The Mini-Millers were on form and the parents watching were privileged to yet another fantastic performance!

This weekend we welcomed back Finn and although he started as sub, he still managed to assert his dominance on the game. Most impressive was the continued improvement from everyone else. Reuben was literally flying in goal as he made some great saves before he got the chance to play upfront in the second-half. At the back we were missing Ned.

Luckily, Max & Teddy were in fine form and were communicating with each other as they decided who would run forward whilst the other one would stay back.

Ryan got us going with a beautiful finish. We specifically asked Ryan to get closer to the net before pulling the trigger and it was great to see the training had worked! Myles was running his little socks off to make sure he could link up with others and create chances.

Teddy & Myles also showed us all how they can finish as both of them found the back of the net again. These two love their celebrations and our parents were greeted with a ‘Phil Foden Esque’ performance from Myles as he pulled out an imaginary Bow & Arrow and fired it into the Mums to celebrate Mother’s Day! More Cupid than Foden, but a sign of real confidence!

Aiden took his turn in goal and with the extra help of ‘Coach Rick’ he manged a couple of great saves. The whole team worked their socks off and when Finn grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck, The Mini-Millers were in control. Finley was enjoying playing with his mates again and you could see it in his face as he continued to score!

My favourite moment of the entire game was Teddy running back from the attacking corner flag. After giving the ball away, he then became the last defender with a goal saving tackle! This epitomises the progression within the whole squad. These boys have grown in confidence and with our last League Game next weekend, I can honestly say, as coaches, we are so proud of you all!

Very much looking forward to ‘Finals Day’ at Buxton. What a great experience this will be for everyone involved. I cannot explain in words, what an honour it is to coach this group of Under 7’s. They are all very different characters but everyone of them is falling in love with this beautiful game and they are becoming a real team.

POTM was given to Aiden🏆 for his unbelievable save and his extra effort to be switched on in goal.
