Match Report NMJFC U8s - 18/11/23

11:30 kick off for the U8’s today, against Juno United Tigers, in the Stockport Metro knock out cup 23/24.

It was Stanley’s turn to be in net this week, followed by James in defence, Teddy and Rhys in Midfield and Charlie J as striker.

New Mills started steady, perhaps looking a little nervous at times, we managed to put a few chances together with Rhys and Teddy linking up well in midfield, but nothing Charlie J could get on the end of.

Juno managed to sneak a goal, just out of reach of Stanley, who up to that point had been pulling off some great saves, with the help of James in defence, keeping these to a minimum.

We brought on Jackson and Charlie T, and the game changed again, two great tacklers meant we could keep the ball higher up the pitch and were starting to create a few chances with Charlie T unlucky not to get the finishing touch.

Shortly afterwards, Charlie T picked up a knock and needed to be swapped out to recover, in came Charlie J, and just before the half time whistle, he found the net the boys had been working so hard for.

A change of keeper at half time, with Rhys taking his turn in goal, and Stanley going back to his usual left midfield position. We reverted back to Teddy on the right keeping James in defence.

The boys came out ready for it with Stanley really revved up. Immediately making an impact and getting a goal.

Juno reacted well and also were quick to make a game of it just moments later.

This end to end football ball continued, a real treat for any spectator.

Stanley was making some superb runs on the left and played in Charlie J for a fantastic goal.

A swap of Teddy and Charlie J, for Jackson and Charlie T meant they could continue their great work from the first half, keeping the ball a bit higher up the pitch.

This was working well with Stanley getting a few more.

Eventually it was time to swap James off, who had been superb defending all game and linking up with both keepers well.

Charlie T dropped to cover defence and Teddy came back on in midfield.

Teddy wasn’t done and after having a shot cleared off the line, he played in a lovely corner which was turned in unluckily by a Juno defender.

All coaches agreed that after such a great team performance, it wasn’t possible to single out one player for the player of the match award.

Superb today boys, Well Done ! 👏
