Match Report NMJFC U9s Bees - 11/02/24

The Bees were up against Chinley Greens today. There were absences across all 3 teams, so after Leo helped out the Hornets in the earlier game, Frankie H joined the Bees for our game.  Rocco had a prior engagement and David is still not back to full fitness (hopefully he will be soon👍🏻)

We lined up with Stanley ‘safe hands’ Barton in goal, Callum ‘Mr determined’ Deegan  and Will ‘Mr reliable’ Mayers across the back line, Millie ‘goals’ Bradshaw on the left, Brooke ‘engine room’ Robinson in the middle, Leo ‘speedy’ Ruddy on the right and Charlie ’CW7’ Wild up front.  Frankie ‘creative force’ Heywood was our sub.

Charlie was captain for the day. A quick pep talk before we kicked off and the Bees were ready.  As soon as the game kicked off the Bees were looking to keep ball moving and let it do all the work, a nice early break from midfield saw Charlie get the ball, take it past a Chinley defender and slot it home ⚽️.

The Bees had the edge but were still a bit nervy and hadn’t fully settled. Chinley had some good attacks but Will and Callum at the back were on it.  Callum is improving all the time, he likes getting stuck in and then looking for a keen pass to a teammate. Will is more and more making himself an ever present in the defence and time and again brings an attack to a close.

The Bees were now looking for opportunities to play each other in for a shot, but they were passing when they should’ve been shooting …. And shooting when the pass was the better option.

Another Bees attack with some good work on the left from Millie saw CW7 knock home his 2nd⚽️. This settled the Bees, we made a quick change to give Callum a rest and bring on Frankie H to steady things.  The half played out with Leo having some good runs and a few shots, Charlie coming close and hitting the post.

Half time chat and Rick and I asked the team what do we need to do….. the Bees all said … pass and move … so we started the second half by knocking things up a few notches. Within no time, Will played a great ball down the line to Millie who cut inside and wallop.. Millie’s ⚽️ first.

The Bees were gaining momentum now and again after some tenacious work from Callum, the Bees had the ball, great pass from Brooke to Mille who hit a high shot which just sneaked over the Chinley keeper ⚽️

Another Bees attack with a delightful run by Leo to bring the ball across for Brooke to knock it out to Millie who scored her third ⚽️ and the Bees 5th.

Quick change and Frankie H came on and made an immediate impact. From a Stanley pass out from the back, through Callum to Leo… who sprinted forward taking on the Chinley midfielder…. Switched the ball the Frankie who blasted home⚽️ 👍🏻

The Bees were playing with so much confidence now and the passing was a delight to watch. If a pass went astray, they were chasing and trying to win the ball back.  All through the game, Charlie had hit the post, Millie had hit the post, Leo had hit the post, Brooke had come close, but the Chinley keeper was having an outstanding game.

Millie had other ideas and pressed forward again… this girl plays with a smile every week… another telling run, cut inside and number four for our Millie⚽️.

To play the game out, we brought on Frankie for Millie (who was still smiling) The Bees were constantly pushing forward and pressing the opposition.

Very late on Chinley broke through … the ball was in the best place for their striker …. But Stanley rushed off his line and put his boot through it 👋🏻 cleared half way upfield (this is something we’d talked about doing during the warm up.. Stanley was immense today !)

Every single player was awesome today …. Goals, assists, saves, tackles…. Everything counts.  The whole team deserved player of the match, they all played for each other.

We go again next week.

⚽️🖤💛⚽️
