Match report NMJFC U9s Falcons - 13/11/22
A bright, sunny morning at Glossopdale as the Falcons lined up against Chapel U9 Blues.
Before the game all players, coaches, officials and spectators impeccably observed a minutes silence for Remembrance Sunday.
Any game against the Chapel teams is going to be tough so the Falcons knew they had to concentrate and give their absolute best out on the pitch. The Falcons had a slow start which encouraged the opposition and the team were punished with some early pressure and great attacking play from Chapel.
But it wasn’t long before the Falcons started to get more control of the ball and created chances of their own, testing the Chapel goalkeeper who made some great saves.
Half-time came and the team were confident they were still in the game. With a couple of changes and moving to a more attacking formation, the Falcons came out fighting in the second half and produced a fantastic, determined performance.
No goals today, but the team created a lot of chances and hit the woodwork three times.
Special mention to today’s captain, Poppy. In the last few games Poppy has started in defence and we’ve used that as a base to build on. Coming short to receive goal kicks, Poppy’s distribution is fantastic which helps build the Falcons attacks. Poppy’s communication with her team-mates is excellent and she also deservedly won the player of the match trophy today.
Overall, if we look at how the Falcons performed last season against this Chapel team and compare that to today, it’s clear the progress that the team are making. They should all be super proud of themselves.
Roll on next week!
