Match Report NMJFC U11 Girls vs Altrincham FC Juniors U11 Girls Starling 28/02/2026

There was a real buzz around the pitch today as we welcomed our newest winter signing, Evie, for her debut. A fresh new kit and a fresh new face brought an extra spark to the squad, but there was nothing uncertain about the way she stepped into the team. From the first whistle, she looked as though she had always been part of the line-up, fitting seamlessly into the rhythm and spirit of the team.

Stevie started in goal and continues to impress in what is only her first season with the team. Playing with great composure, she produced a string of strong saves and commanded her area fearlessly.

In defence, Paige and Ava provided solid support. Ava was as dependable as ever, putting in decisive tackles and communicating constantly to keep everyone organised. Her strength and awareness were vital in shutting down attacks. Paige, playing out of her usual position at the back, adapted brilliantly. She showed great composure on the ball, confidently passing forward and helping to launch attacks from deep.

Martha was relentless in midfield, covering every blade of grass as she surged up and down the pitch. Her work rate was outstanding, breaking up play one moment and driving the team forward the next. She even tested the opposition keeper with a shot on goal, underlining her development into a strong and well-rounded presence in the centre of the park.

Out wide, Poppy J and Florence gave the team both width and energy. Poppy J’s ability to hold up the ball and unleash powerful kicks proved essential, particularly in moments when the team needed to relieve pressure or push forward with intent. Florence’s confidence grows week by week, and it shows. She ran tirelessly along the wing, supporting in defence and attack, and continues to be an invaluable part of the squad.

Leading the line was Evie, and what a debut she delivered. She worked tirelessly up front, pressing defenders, chasing every opportunity and positioning herself intelligently. Her efforts were rewarded in style when a beautifully delivered throw-in caused chaos in the box, rebounding kindly and easing into the net for a remarkable goal. It was a moment to remember and the perfect way to mark her first appearance.

When Annabella, Poppy D and Millie were introduced from the bench, the intensity didn’t drop. Annabella covered ground tirelessly, tracking back to defend when needed and driving forward at every opportunity, even testing the keeper with a shot on goal. Poppy D was involved all over the pitch, her growing confidence clear to see as her awareness and positioning continue to improve each week. Millie looked dangerous in attack, creating chances and firing the ball at goal, unlucky not to see her name on the scoresheet.

Every single player contributed to a fantastic team performance today. Player of the Week could easily have gone to several of the girls, but it was awarded to Evie. To step into a new team, deliver such a composed performance and cap it with a goal is no small achievement.

Our girls are building something special, and if today is anything to go by, it is the beginning of a powerful journey together. Well done!
